Dennis Earl Johnson (Lit) was born November 5, 1959 to the late Doris Jean Johnson and Walter Earl Jones in Vance County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at his residence.

He was educated in Vance County Public Schools. He was a graduate of Vance Granville Community College where he received an Associate Degree in Applied Science for Recreational Therapy.

He also attended St. Andrews United Church of Christ in Henderson, North Carolina.

In his early years, he was employed with Owen E. Gupton Roofing as a roofer and Check's Truck Stop as a cook. Dennis was employed at Universal Healthcare in the Dietary Department.

"Lit" as he was called by family and friends of the neighborhood was a loving and affectionate person. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Baskerville Funeral Home Chapel at 104 S. Chestnut Street, Henderson North Carolina.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at St. Andrews United Church of Christ, Henderson, North Carolina at 1:00 p.m. and viewing will be from noon to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Blacknall Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by one aunt, Queen Ester Holloway.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a wife Linda Johnson; three children, Jessica Johnson (Brian), James Andrae Hargrove and Jazmine Hargrove all of Henderson, North Carolina; three brothers, Walter Southerland of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kermit Bailey (Kelda) of Cary, North Carolina and Darryl Jones (Allison) of Springfield, New Jersey; two sisters, Renee Jones of Graham, North Carolina and Tonya Jones (Preston) of Raleigh, North Carolina; four aunts, Edith Akins and Jernetta Jordan both of Henderson, North Carolina, Rosa Montgomery of East Orange, New Jersey and Carolyn Williams of Hillside, New Jersey; one uncle, Preston Johnson of Henderson, North Carolina; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a childhood friend, Ronald Royster and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Family will receive visitors at 612 E. Rockspring Street, Henderson, North Carolina.
