George Smith son of the late John Ervin Smith and Katie Kearney Smith was born in Franklin County, North Carolina on June 25, 1956. He entered into eternal rest on October 18, 2022, at his residence.

He was educated in Vance County Public Schools. He was employed with the Cotton Mill in Henderson, North Carolina for many years.

George enjoyed spending time with his family laughing, joking and most of all playing spades.  George also loved to clean like no other.  He took his gift of painting and carpentry from his father, the late John Ervin Smith. George loved his grandchildren and would do anything for them.  He was a man that could make friends and he loved to talk.

George was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Linda Wright and two brothers, Danny Smith and William Thomas Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Antoinette Smith; two daughters, Marquita Jones and Laudette Jeffrey; three sons, George Smith, George Brown and Ronnie Jeffrey; two brothers, Robert Earl Smith, Herman Smith; two sisters, Emma Jean Smith and Denise Jones; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also, one special friend, John Henry Israel.

Viewing will be held at Baskerville Funeral Home Chapel, 104 S. Chestnut Street in Henderson, North Carolina on Thursday, October 27, 2022, from noon to 6:00 p.m.

Service will be held at Baskerville Funeral Home Chapel, 104 S. Chestnut Street in Henderson, North Carolina on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be held at Blacknall Cemetery, Henderson, North Carolina.

Masks are required for all services.
