Kathryn Elaine Pendergrass was born on May 29 , 1955 to Bertha V . Houchens and the late Boyd Tyler in Bowie , Maryland . S h e departed this life on February 2 7 , 2 022 at her residence .

Kathryn received her education in the Bowie School System in Bowie , M aryland . She began working at Vance County Jail in Henderson , North Carolina in 1992 and became the Jail Administrator the last several years before she retired .

She loved fishing , movies and spending time with her family . She will be greatly missed by her family .

She was preceded in death by her father , Boyd Tyler .

Kathryn leaves to cherish her memories , her husband , John Pendergrass of the home ; one daughter , Amy K . Harris ( Chris ) of Yankton , South Dakota ; one granddaughter , Haiden Jaide Stockinger of Yankton , South Dakota ; mother , Bertha V . Houchens of Bowie Maryland ; mother - in - law , M arsha White of Henderson , North Carolina ; two sisters , Arlene Phillipi of New Bern , North Carolina and Sandy Seaton ( John ) of Norfolk , Virginia ; friend , Melissa Fisher and children of Franklinton , North Carolina ; several nieces , nephews , numerous cousins , other loving relatives and friends .

A memorial service will be held at Baskerville Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday , May 29 , 2022 at 9 : 30 a . m . The celebration of her life contin ues after the memorial service at her residence .
