Lafayette (Jim) Miles, Jr., the son of the late Cora Mae Miles and Lafayette Miles, Sr. was born on March 6, 1957 in Granville County, North Carolina. He peacefully departed his life on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at his home in Henderson, North Carolina.

Lafayette (Jim) was educated in Granville County School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1977, stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina and was a member of the 82 ^nd Airborne. He received several awards including the Parachute Badge, Marksman Badge M-16 and the Expert Badge M60 MG.

He loved relaxing at home watching old Western movies and listening to oldies R & B music, he also loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosa Evans and Shirley Shaw and one brother, Larry Miles.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Nakia Street and Lashell Miles both of Durham, North Carolina; four sisters, Delois Blacknall (Clarence) of Kittrell, North Carolina, Karen Waverly and Sheila Miles of Henderson, North Carolina; Barbara Hargrove (Michael) of Norlina, North Carolina; two brothers, Norman Miles and Vernon Miles of Henderson, North Carolina; six granddaughters, Kayla, Alexandria, Celeste, Brianna, Brionna, and Carlise; one very special cousin, Kenny Terry and a host of other relatives and Friends.

Viewing will be held at Baskerville Funeral Home Chapel, 104 S. Chestnut Street in Henderson, North Carolina on Sunday, May 8, 2022 from noon  to 6:00 p.m.

Service will be held at Baskerville Funeral Home Chapel, 104 S. Chestnut Street in Henderson, North Carolina on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
