Maurice Edward
Harrison, Sr.
Dec 4, 1942 — Mar 20, 2021
Henderson
Maurice Edward Harrison Sr. 78, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at his residence in Henderson, North Carolina. He was born on December 4, 1942 to the parentage of the late James Adam Harrison and Betty Taylor Harrison.
He was educated in the Vance County Public Schools and a graduate of Henderson Institute. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Welcome Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson, North Carolina where he remained a faithful member until his health declined.
Morris as he was known to everyone was very outgoing and was a stranger to no one. His personality was just as big as his heart. He loved his cars and he loved driving his truck. You could find him every morning at Bojangles laughing and talking with his buddies. He was a long-distance truck driver for over fifty years. There wasn't a road that Morris didn't travel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara M. Harrison; one sister, Betty H. Gregory and a grandson, Lamond C. Alston.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons; Maurice E. Harrison Jr. of the home; Kelvin W. Harrison of Henderson, North Carolina; one daughter Cynthia Fogg of Henderson, North Carolina; one brother, James Anderson Harrison (Carolyn) of Raleigh, North Carolina; one uncle, Morris Taylor of Williamsboro, North Carolina; and one brother-in-law Harry Gregory of Henderson, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a special friend, Gloria Perry known as "Porky" to Morris; longtime friends Arthaniel "Doc" Marrow, Rayford Marrow, Ricky Davis and Jesse Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
Maurice will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts and forever in our memories.
