Obituary

Nathaniel Wimbush Jr. was born September 6, 1955 to the late Nathaniel Wimbush Sr. and Corine Baskerville Hawkins.  He transitioned this life from earth to glory on Friday, February 11, 2022 at age 66.

Nathaniel accepted Christ at an early age.

Nathaniel joined the United States Marine Corps soon after graduation from Thomas Edison High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He served two years and received an honorable discharge.

Nathaniel was a smooth dresser who loved to dress and coordinate his hats and caps with whatever he was wearing.  He was a clean-cut kind of a guy. (Smooth, my brother!) I will never hear my brother greet me again by saying "what's up chicken head or Pat, buy your baby brother a pack of cigarettes".

Nathaniel worked in the food service industry until his declining health.

He loved watching western, reading, and imparting words of wisdom to all, especially to his niece and nephews. Nathaniel was known by many monikers as Nate, P-nut and of course Nathaniel. His niece, nephews, and many cousins he was simply called P-nut.  Many of his friends  called him Nate or Nathaniel.

Nathaniel never met a stranger. He loved women and they loved him too. I fondly remember one day we were walking down the streets of Philly and two beautiful ladies were passing by, he made it his business to let them know that I was his sister and not his girlfriend. He had a great sense of humor.  His love for his family was endless.

His legacy began with Maxine Foster and from this union, he had two daughters, Patricia Darlene Foster and Andrian Renee Foster. He had two grandchildren, Tyrrick Jamal Bullock and Taniya Janae Bullock all of Henderson North Carolina.  Nathaniel's legacy extended with Kathy Williams and from that union he had one son, Kurtis Nathaniel Williams who preceded him in death. They had two children, Darius and Davier Williams. They are grandchildren of Nathaniel all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He leaves to cherish his memories, three sisters, Gracie Pettaway, Patsy Chase both of Manson, North Carolina and Michelle Harris of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Albert Hawkins and Christopher Harris both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his niece, Tamara Chase who he affectionately called Face; four nephews, James Pettaway, Robert Chase and Antoine Chase all of Manson, North Carolina and Michael Pettaway of Chesapeake, Virginia; numerous other cousins, other loving relatives and friends. Nathaniel shared a special friendship with Darneil Miles and her family.

Graveside Service will be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Manson, North Carolina on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
