Pableto
Alston
Feb 20, 1956 — Sep 28, 2021
Henderson
Mr. Pablebo "Pap" Alston entered into eternal rest on September 28, 2021 at Maria Parham Health. He resided at 440 Winder Street in Henderson, North Carolina.
Pap was born February 20, 1956 to the late Mrs. Lena M. Seward and John "Foot" Harris. He was raised by his great grandparents, Mr. Norman and Harriett Sills of 427 E. Rockspring Street in Henderson, North Carolina. He was educated in Vance County Public Schools. Pap was baptized and attended Shiloh Baptist Church until moving up north with his mother. After returning to North Carolina, he attended Freedom Life Church.
Pap was a loving, kind, tenderhearted and a respectful person. Everyone he knew, he would make sure they were greeted by asking for some change, cigarette or a couple of dollars. He had no problem asking for what he wanted. Some would say, "he got on their last nerve". Yet, they still gave. Everyone in and around town knew Pap to be that way. If he had it to give, he would give you the shirt off of his back. If he wasn't seen on Andrews Avenue or Water Street (China Kitchen), people wondered where he was or if he was sick. That showed how much he was loved and cared for. He was known to be a nice dresser back in the day. He always loved nice shoes and looked forward to his sister sending him some at least twice a year.
He loved children. He had a hand in quite a few of his cousins taking them to the fair and carnivals in Henderson. He would make sure his younger cousins were okay. Pap never cared for drama or arguing with anyone.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories a sister, Mrs. Fabian M. Coney of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey; two nephews, Mr. Donovan Coney of Somerset, New Jersey and Mr. Justin Coney of North Brunswick, New Jersey; a great niece, Cheyanne Coney and a nephew, Lex Coney. Ms. Emma V. Baskerville was his only aunt and remained in his life until his transitioning.
After the lost of his mother, his cousin, Mr. Dennis Lemay (Debra) was his overseer and did all they could for Pap for many years until the end. He also had an adopted daughter and son, Angie Williams-Turner (Jimmy) who took up a lot of quality time with Pap. Jasmine Alston and her daughters Trinity and Dasia were his favorite cousins from Newark, New Jersey and a host of many more. There was no one quite like his cousins, Norma Jean to him. They were close at heart and shared a bond. They were raised under the same umbrella with his sister, Fabian and cousin, Pamelia "Pam". Everyone thought they were sisters and brothers because we shared the same last name. Everyone Pap knew that lived on East Rockspring Street, Andrews Avenue and Clark Street, he loved them dearly. He will be missed by many.
